I don't care what anyone says, Genkai is one of the greatest animation characters of all time. She's strong, tough, no-nonsense, and commands respect -- all things that, unfortunately, female characters often have difficulty doing in fiction (let alone the elderly as well). Genkai is the sort of old woman I hope I grow into someday.
I just hope someone stops me before I end up with that hat.
